2727 An Act relative to baseline concussion testing for student athletes.
2828 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2929 of the same, as follows:
3030 1 SECTION 1. The first paragraph of subsection (a) of Section 222 of Chapter 111 of the
3131 2General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the
3232 3following sentence:- The department shall create, implement and maintain mandatory baseline
3333 4concussion testing for all high school aged athletes enrolled in public school or any school,
3434 5private or otherwise, that is subject to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association
3535 6rules.
3636 7 SECTION 2. Said Section 222 of said Chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby amended
3737 8by striking out the word “The”, in line 25, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- In
3838 9addition to the mandatory baseline concussion testing results, the. 2 of 2
3939 10 SECTION 3. Said Section 222 of said Chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby further
4040 11amended by inserting after the word “student”, in line 38, the following words:- has undergone
4141 12follow-up concussion testing in addition to previous baseline testing and the student.
4242 13 SECTION 4. The first paragraph of subsection (c) of said Section 222 of said Chapter
4343 14111, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- Any of the
4444 15previously mentioned professionals who submit clearance shall also be trained in baseline
4545 16concussion testing administration.
4646 17 SECTION 5. The second paragraph of said subsection (c) of said Section 222 of said
4747 18Chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- Any of the
4848 19previously mentioned professionals who submit clearance shall also be trained in baseline
4949 20concussion testing administration.
