An Act relative to baseline concussion testing for student athletes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. The first paragraph of subsection (a) of Section 222 of Chapter 111 of the
2General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the
3following sentence:- The department shall create, implement and maintain mandatory baseline
4concussion testing for all high school aged athletes enrolled in public school or any school,
5private or otherwise, that is subject to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association
6rules.
7 SECTION 2. Said Section 222 of said Chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby amended
8by striking out the word “The”, in line 25, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- In
9addition to the mandatory baseline concussion testing results, the. 2 of 2
10 SECTION 3. Said Section 222 of said Chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby further
11amended by inserting after the word “student”, in line 38, the following words:- has undergone
12follow-up concussion testing in addition to previous baseline testing and the student.
13 SECTION 4. The first paragraph of subsection (c) of said Section 222 of said Chapter
14111, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- Any of the
15previously mentioned professionals who submit clearance shall also be trained in baseline
16concussion testing administration.
17 SECTION 5. The second paragraph of said subsection (c) of said Section 222 of said
18Chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- Any of the
19previously mentioned professionals who submit clearance shall also be trained in baseline
20concussion testing administration.
