2828 An Act regulating access to the disclosure of certain police reports.
2929 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3030 of the same, as follows:
3131 1 Section 97D of chapter 41 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition,
3232 2is hereby amended by inserting after the second sentence the following sentence:- "If a police
3333 3officer receives a request for such access from an advocate or counselor not specifically
3434 4authorized by the victim to obtain such information, the police department shall make a
3535 5reasonable attempt to notify the victim."
3636 6 Said section 97D, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by adding the following
3737 7paragraph:-
3838 8 In this section, the term "police officer" shall mean a regular police officer or a special
3939 9officer appointed pursuant to section 63 of chapter 22C.
