2828 An Act relative to surviving family members of public emergency medical technicians.
2929 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3030 of the same, as follows:
3131 1 SECTION 1. Section 100 of chapter 32 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016
3232 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “death,” in line 15 the following
3333 3words:-
3434 4 or if a public emergency medical technician while in the performance of his duties and as
3535 5the result of an assault on his person or as a result of an accident while responding to or returning
3636 6from any emergency or as the result of an accident involving an EMS department vehicle, which
3737 7the public emergency medical technician is operating or in which he is riding or while at the
3838 8scene of any emergency is killed or sustains injuries while on duty which results in his death, 2 of 4
3939 9 SECTION 2. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended
4040 10by striking out, in lines 16-17, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and
4141 11inserting in place thereof the following words:_
4242 12 firefighter, police officer, corrections officer, or public emergency medical technician
4343 13 SECTION 3. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended
4444 14by striking out, in lines 18-19, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and
4545 15inserting in place thereof the following words:-
4646 16 firefighter, police officer, corrections officer, or public emergency medical technician
4747 17 SECTION 4. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended
4848 18by striking out, in lines 22-23, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and
4949 19inserting in place thereof the following words:-
5050 20 firefighter, police officer, corrections officer, or public emergency medical technician
5151 21 SECTION 5. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended
5252 22by striking out, in line 26, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and
5353 23inserting in place thereof the following words:-
5454 24 firefighter, police officer, corrections officer, or public emergency medical technician
5555 25 SECTION 6. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended
5656 26by striking out, in lines 45-46, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and
5757 27inserting in place thereof the following words:-

5959 29 SECTION 7. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended

6363 33 SECTION 8. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended
6464 34by striking out, in line 67, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and
6565 35inserting in place thereof the following words:-

6767 37 SECTION 9. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended
6868 38by striking out, in lines 75-76, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and
6969 39inserting in place thereof the following words:-
7070 40 firefighter, police officer, corrections officer, or public emergency medical technician
7171 41 SECTION 10. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended
7272 42by striking out, in lines 79-80, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and
7373 43inserting in place thereof the following words:-
7474 44 firefighter, police officer, corrections officer, or public emergency medical technician
7575 45 SECTION 11. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended
7676 46by striking out, in lines 88-89, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and
7777 47inserting in place thereof the following words:-

7979 49 SECTION 12. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
