An Act relative to surviving family members of public emergency medical technicians.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Section 100 of chapter 32 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 
2Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “death,” in line 15 the following 
3words:- 
4 or if a public emergency medical technician while in the performance of his duties and as 
5the result of an assault on his person or as a result of an accident while responding to or returning 
6from any emergency or as the result of an accident involving an EMS department vehicle, which 
7the public emergency medical technician is operating or in which he is riding or while at the 
8scene of any emergency is killed or sustains injuries while on duty which results in his death, 2 of 4
9 SECTION 2. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended 
10by striking out, in lines 16-17, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and 
11inserting in place thereof the following words:_
12 firefighter, police officer, corrections officer, or public emergency medical technician
13 SECTION 3. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended 
14by striking out, in lines 18-19, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and 
15inserting in place thereof the following words:- 
16 firefighter, police officer, corrections officer, or public emergency medical technician
17 SECTION 4. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended 
18by striking out, in lines 22-23, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and 
19inserting in place thereof the following words:- 
20 firefighter, police officer, corrections officer, or public emergency medical technician
21 SECTION 5. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended 
22by striking out, in line 26, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and 
23inserting in place thereof the following words:-
24 firefighter, police officer, corrections officer, or public emergency medical technician
25 SECTION 6. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended 
26by striking out, in lines 45-46, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and 
27inserting in place thereof the following words:-

29 SECTION 7. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended 
30by striking out, in line 53, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and 
31inserting in place thereof the following words:-

33 SECTION 8. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended 
34by striking out, in line 67, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and 
35inserting in place thereof the following words:- 
36 firefighter, police officer, corrections officer, or public emergency medical technician
37 SECTION 9. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended 
38by striking out, in lines 75-76, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and 
39inserting in place thereof the following words:- 
40 firefighter, police officer, corrections officer, or public emergency medical technician
41 SECTION 10. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended 
42by striking out, in lines 79-80, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and 
43inserting in place thereof the following words:- 
44 firefighter, police officer, corrections officer, or public emergency medical technician
45 SECTION 11. Section 100 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby further amended 
46by striking out, in lines 88-89, the words “firefighter, police officer or corrections officer” and 
47inserting in place thereof the following words:- 
48 firefighter, police officer, corrections officer, or public emergency medical technician 4 of 4
49 SECTION 12. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
