29 | 29 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
---|
30 | 30 | | of the same, as follows: |
---|
31 | 31 | | 1 Section 8G of chapter 26 of the general laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is |
---|
32 | 32 | | 2hereby amended by striking the first paragraph in its entirety and inserting the following new |
---|
33 | 33 | | 3paragraph in place thereof:- |
---|
34 | 34 | | 4 “There shall be in the division of professional licensure an auto damage appraiser |
---|
35 | 35 | | 5licensing board, hereinafter called the board, consisting of seven persons. The governor shall |
---|
36 | 36 | | 6appoint two members who shall be affiliated with the auto body repair industry and two |
---|
37 | 37 | | 7members who shall be affiliated with insurance companies writing casualty insurance within the |
---|
38 | 38 | | 8commonwealth. The attorney general shall appoint one representative of her office and shall |
---|
39 | 39 | | 9appoint one additional person, unaffiliated with her office, an auto body shop or an insurance |
---|
40 | 40 | | 10company, to represent consumers. The commissioner of the division of professional licensure 2 of 2 |
---|
41 | 41 | | 11shall appoint one person who shall not be affiliated with either the auto body industry or the |
---|
42 | 42 | | 12insurance industry and who shall be the chairman of the board. No member shall serve for more |
---|
43 | 43 | | 13than 2 consecutive and complete 3-year terms. As the term of the office of a member expires, a |
---|
44 | 44 | | 14successor shall be appointed in like manner for a term of 3 years. A vacancy on the board shall |
---|
45 | 45 | | 15be filled within 60 days from the date of the vacancy.” |
