2222 An Act relative to culturally competent and effective health care.
2323 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2424 of the same, as follows:
2525 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 111 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition,
2626 2is hereby amended by inserting after section 244 the following section:-
2727 3 Section 245: Notwithstanding any special or general law to the contrary, the Board of
2828 4Registration in Medicine and the Center for Health Information and Analysis shall collect and
2929 5make publicly available data and information concerning the cultural, ethnic, linguistic, and
3030 6educational composition of the physician workforce for the purposes of assessing the impact of
3131 7physician workforce diversity and health outcomes in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
3232 8 Health care facilities licensed under Section 51 of Chapter 111 of the Massachusetts
3333 9General Laws shall provide to both the Board of Registration in Medicine and the Center for
3434 10Health Information and Analysis, including but not limited to the following data on a yearly
3535 11basis for physicians, medical fellows, interns, and residents:
3636 12 I. Demographic information, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender
3737 13identity, and sexual orientation 2 of 2
3838 14 II.Linguistic information
3939 15 III. Medical specialty/subspecialty
4040 16 IV.Duration of practice in Massachusetts
4141 17 V. Duration of practice at current facility
4242 18 VI.Highest Professional Level / Leadership Appointment
4343 19 VII.Highest Academic Appointment
4444 20 VIII.Highest Educational Debt
4545 21 IX.Employment status: Part-time / full-time / per diem
4646 22 This data shall be aggregated and made publicly available on the Board of Registration in
4747 23Medicine website no more than 60 days after the end of each year.
4848 24 SECTION 2. The Center for Health Information and Analysis shall report on the data
4949 25collected under this section to the Clerks of the House and Senate, the Joint Committee on Public
5050 26Health, and the Department of Public Health no later than February 28th of each calendar year.
5151 27 SECTION 3. This act shall become effective 90 days after enactment.
