11	11	An Act amending the charter of the town of Marshfield to make references to the board of
12	12	selectmen gender neutral.
13	13	Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
14	14	of the same, as follows:
15	15	1 SECTION 1. Section 1-2 of the charter of the town of Marshfield, which is on file in the
16	16	2office of the archivist of the commonwealth as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the
17	17	3General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting
18	18	4in place thereof the following words:- select board.
19	19	5 SECTION 2. Section 2-4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words
20	20	6“Board of Selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the
21	21	7following words:- select board.
22	22	8 SECTION 3. Section 3-1 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words
23	23	9“board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.
24	24	10 SECTION 4. Subsection 3-2-1 of section 3-2 of said charter is hereby amended by
25	25	11striking out the caption and inserting in place thereof the following caption:- Select Board. 2 of 4
26	26	12 SECTION 5. Said section 3-2 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out
27	27	13the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each
28	28	14instance, the following words:- select board.
29	29	15 SECTION 6. Said section 3-2 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out
30	30	16the words “Board of Selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select
31	31	17board.
32	32	18 SECTION 7. Said section 3-2 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out
33	33	19the word “selectmen”, each time it appears, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the
34	34	20following words:- select board.
35	35	21 SECTION 8. Said section 3-2 of said charter is further hereby amended by striking out
36	36	22the word “Selectmen”, each time it appears, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the
37	37	23following words:- select board.
38	38	24 SECTION 9. Subsection 4-1-1 of section 4-1 of said charter is hereby amended by
39	39	25striking out the words “Board of Selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:-

51	51	37amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the

53	53	39 SECTION 14. Subsection 4-1-3 of said section 4-1 of said charter is hereby amended by
54	54	40striking out the words “Board of Selectmen”, each time it appears, and inserting in place thereof,
55	55	41in each instance, the following words:- select board.
56	56	42 SECTION 15. Said subsection 4-1-3 of said section 4-1 of said charter is hereby further
57	57	43amended by striking out the word “Selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following

82	82	68striking out the word “Selectmen’s” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select

84	84	70 SECTION 25. Said subsection 8-1-3 of said section 8-1 of said charter is hereby further
85	85	71amended by striking out the word “selectmen”, each time it appears, and inserting in place
86	86	72thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.
87	87	73 SECTION 26. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
