| 14 | 14 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of the same, as follows: |

| 16 | 16 | | 1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding section 14E of chapter 71 of the General Laws, the towns |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 2of Spencer and East Brookfield may annually elect members on a municipal election ballot to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 3serve on the school committee of the Spencer East Brookfield Regional School District on the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 4same date as the annual elections in each town; provided, however, that the election of the school |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 5committee members shall take place pursuant to the agreement between the towns of Spencer |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 6and East Brookfield with respect to a regional school district dated April 1, 2019; provided |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 7further, that if the municipal elections in the towns of Spencer and East Brookfield do not occur |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | 8on the same date, the election of the school committee members shall take place at the next |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | 9biennial state election or next municipal elections in the towns of East Brookfield and Spencer |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | 10that are held on the same date, whichever occurs first. |

| 26 | 26 | | 11 SECTION 2. At the first election of the school committee members occurring following |

| 27 | 27 | | 12the passage of this act at a biennial state election or municipal election in the towns of East 2 of 2 |

| 28 | 28 | | 13Brookfield and Spencer that are held on the same date, the term of any elected member shall |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | 14cease upon the election of members in accordance with subsection C of section II of the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 15agreement between the towns of Spencer and East Brookfield with respect to a regional school |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 16district dated April 1, 2019. |

| 32 | 32 | | 17 SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage. |
