[SIMILAR MATTER FILED IN PREVIOUS SESSION SEE SENATE, NO. 976 OF 2021-2022.] The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Third General Court (2023-2024) _______________ An Act relative to probation violations. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 Section 3 of Chapter 279 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition, 2is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 14 and 15, the words “such suspension is revoked, the 3sentence shall be in full force and effect” and inserting in place thereof the following:- the 4defendant violates a condition of probation, the court may (a) continue him on probation with or 5without extending the term or modifying or enlarging the conditions; or (b) revoke the sentence 6of probation and commit the defendant to an intermediate sanctions program or impose all or any 7portion of the suspended sentence.
