2626 An Act allowing for increased investment in health care providers.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 Chapter 176A of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking
3030 2section 31 in its entirety and replacing it with the following: -
3131 3 “Section 31. Any corporation subject to this chapter may contract with any person for the
3232 4purpose of providing administrative or other services relating to the providing of hospital or
3333 5other health services or reimbursement therefor. In addition, a hospital service corporation may,
3434 6after being authorized by its board of directors or by a committee thereof charged with the duty
3535 7of authorizing transactions under this section, make loans to, guarantee loans of, make
3636 8investments in hospitals and providers of other health services for the purpose of improving
3737 9efficiency, reducing costs, or increasing benefits in the delivery of health services to subscribers
3838 10and others.”
