| 27 | 27 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |

| 28 | 28 | | of the same, as follows: |

| 29 | 29 | | 1 Chapter 176A of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 2section 31 in its entirety and replacing it with the following: - |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 3 “Section 31. Any corporation subject to this chapter may contract with any person for the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 4purpose of providing administrative or other services relating to the providing of hospital or |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 5other health services or reimbursement therefor. In addition, a hospital service corporation may, |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 6after being authorized by its board of directors or by a committee thereof charged with the duty |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 7of authorizing transactions under this section, make loans to, guarantee loans of, make |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 8investments in hospitals and providers of other health services for the purpose of improving |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 9efficiency, reducing costs, or increasing benefits in the delivery of health services to subscribers |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 10and others.” |
