The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Fourth General Court (2025-2026) _______________ An Act allowing for increased investment in health care providers. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 Chapter 176A of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking 2section 31 in its entirety and replacing it with the following: - 3 “Section 31. Any corporation subject to this chapter may contract with any person for the 4purpose of providing administrative or other services relating to the providing of hospital or 5other health services or reimbursement therefor. In addition, a hospital service corporation may, 6after being authorized by its board of directors or by a committee thereof charged with the duty 7of authorizing transactions under this section, make loans to, guarantee loans of, make 8investments in hospitals and providers of other health services for the purpose of improving 9efficiency, reducing costs, or increasing benefits in the delivery of health services to subscribers 10and others.”
