2828 An Act relative to juvenile restitution.
2929 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3030 of the same, as follows:
3131 1 Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, is hereby
3232 2amended by inserting after section 62 the following section:-
3333 3 Section 62A. The court shall make all reasonable efforts to ensure that restitution is made
3434 4to the victim of a juvenile offender. The court shall order that the juvenile be required to repair,
3535 5replace or otherwise make restitution for damage or loss caused by his wrongful act and may
3636 6impose fines in limited amounts. Restitution shall be made a condition of release, placement, or
3737 7parole by the juvenile court. In cases where the court determines it is appropriate, the court may
3838 8order the juvenile to make restitution directly to the court in the form of financial payments,
3939 9which shall then be turned over to the victim of the offense. The court may issue such orders as 2 of 2
4040 10are necessary for the collection of restitution, including garnishments, wage withholdings, and
4141 11executions.
