| 29 | 29 | | 1 Chapter 111 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, is hereby |

| 30 | 30 | | 2amended by inserting after 244 the following new section:- |

| 31 | 31 | | 3 SECTION 245. Fentanyl testing |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 4 (a) If a person is treated at a general acute care hospital and the hospital conducts a urine |

| 33 | 33 | | 5drug screening to assist in diagnosing the patient’s condition, the hospital shall include testing |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 6for fentanyl in the urine drug screening. |

| 35 | 35 | | 7 (b) As used in this section, “urine drug screening” means a chemical analysis intended to |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 8test patients for the presence of multiple drugs, including cocaine, opioids, and phencyclidine. |

| 37 | 37 | | 9 (c) The department of public health is hereby authorized and directed to promulgate or |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 10revise any regulations necessary to implement the testing requirements outlined above. |
