2626 An Act relative to fentanyl testing.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 Chapter 111 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, is hereby
3030 2amended by inserting after 244 the following new section:-
3131 3 SECTION 245. Fentanyl testing
3232 4 (a) If a person is treated at a general acute care hospital and the hospital conducts a urine
3333 5drug screening to assist in diagnosing the patient’s condition, the hospital shall include testing
3434 6for fentanyl in the urine drug screening.
3535 7 (b) As used in this section, “urine drug screening” means a chemical analysis intended to
3636 8test patients for the presence of multiple drugs, including cocaine, opioids, and phencyclidine.
3737 9 (c) The department of public health is hereby authorized and directed to promulgate or
3838 10revise any regulations necessary to implement the testing requirements outlined above.
