Vaughn relative to licensed physicians or registered optometrists registered to issue written prescriptions for eyeglasses or contact lenses. Public Health. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Fourth General Court (2025-2026) _______________ An Act relative to prescription eyewear. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, any licensed physician or 2registered optometrist registered to issue written prescriptions in the Commonwealth who are 3issuing a prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses, shall include the patient’s pupillary 4distance on the script. No additional fees may be imposed for including such information on the 5script. The board of registration in optometry shall issue promulgations to carry out the 6requirements of this section.
