[SIMILAR MATTER FILED IN PREVIOUS SESSION SEE HOUSE, NO. 3645 OF 2023-2024.] The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Fourth General Court (2025-2026) _______________ An Act relative to creditable service for Lynn Turner, a member of the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding section 4 of chapter 32 of the General Laws or any other 2general or special law to the contrary, the Massachusetts teachers’ retirement board shall credit 3Lynn Turner, a member of the Massachusetts teachers’ retirement system, with creditable service 4for the service she rendered as a teacher at the Horace Mann Public Charter School in the town 5of Barnstable from November 30, 2009 to June 30, 2010 for the purpose of determining her 6superannuation retirement allowance under subsection (a) of paragraph (2) of section 5 of said 7chapter 32. Before the date that any retirement allowance becomes effective in the case of Lynn 8Turner, she shall pay into the annuity savings fund of the Massachusetts teachers’ retirement 9system, in 1 sum or installments, upon such terms and conditions as the Massachusetts teachers’ 10retirement system may prescribe, an amount equal to that which would have been withheld as 2 of 2 11regular deductions from her regular compensation for such previous service, together with 12buyback interest, as defined in section 1 of said chapter 32. This act shall not affect any other 13retirement benefits that Lynn Turner may otherwise be entitled to. 14 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
