| 32 | 32 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | of the same, as follows: |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 1 There shall be a special commission established pursuant to section 2A of chapter 4 of |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 2the General Laws to study and investigate the feasibility and efficacy of establishing, operating |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 3and administering a ferry service to Long Island. The commission shall consist of 2 members of |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 4the house of representatives, 1 of whom shall be nominated by the minority leader, 2 members of |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 5the senate, 1 of whom shall be nominated by the minority leader, the secretary of transportation |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | 6or a designee, the commissioner of public safety or a designee and 5 members to be appointed by |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | 7the governor, 1 of whom shall be nominated by the mayor of Boston and 1 of whom shall be |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | 8nominated by the mayor of Quincy. The members of the commission may elect a member to |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | 9serve as chair. As part of its study and investigation, the commission shall analyze practices and 2 of 2 |

| 43 | 43 | | 10methods for current ferry services provided by or operated in the commonwealth. The |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | 11commission shall identify and project the potential cost for establishing, operating and |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | 12administering a new ferry route to Long Island and make recommendations for the |

| 46 | 46 | | 13implementation thereof. |
