| 26 | 26 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of the same, as follows: |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | 1 Chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, is hereby |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | 2amended by inserting, after section 39G, the following:- |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 3 Section 39H. For the purposes of this section, the following words shall have the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 4following meanings, unless the context clearly requires otherwise: |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 5 “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle”, “UAV”, or “drone” shall mean a powered aerial vehicle |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 6that: (i) does not carry a human operator and is operated without the possibility of direct human |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 7intervention from within or on the aircraft; (ii) uses aerodynamic forces to provide vehicle lift; |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 8(iii) can fly autonomously or be piloted remotely; (iv) can be expendable or recoverable; and (v.) |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 9weighs less than 55lbs. |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 10 “Chinese state-owned company” shall mean any corporation, business, association, |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 11partnership, venture, limited liability company, or other entity or business association owned |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | 12fully or in part by, or affiliated with, the government of China. 2 of 2 |

| 40 | 40 | | 13 Section 39I. Acquisition of unmanned aerial vehicles |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | 14 Chinese state-owned companies shall not be authorized to sell or distribute unmanned |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | 15aerial vehicles or drones in the Commonwealth. |
