28 | 28 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
---|
29 | 29 | | of the same, as follows: |
---|
30 | 30 | | 1 SECTION 1 Notwithstanding any general or special law, rule or regulation to the |
---|
31 | 31 | | 2contrary, there shall be a veteran's hall of fame commission to study the feasibility of |
---|
32 | 32 | | 3establishing a veterans' hall of fame in the Commonwealth. The commission shall consist of 11 |
---|
33 | 33 | | 4members, who shall be speaker of the house or their designee and the president of the senate or |
---|
34 | 34 | | 5their designee, who shall serve as co-chairs of the commission; the minority leaders of the house |
---|
35 | 35 | | 6and senate or their designees; the house and senate chairs of the joint committee on veterans and |
---|
36 | 36 | | 7federal affairs or their designees; the adjutant general of the national guard or their designee; the |
---|
37 | 37 | | 8secretary of veterans' services or their designee; a designee of the secretary of state who is |
---|
38 | 38 | | 9employed in the state archives who is knowledgeable about military records; and two persons to |
---|
39 | 39 | | 10be appointed by the governor who shall be honorably-discharged veterans. Members shall serve |
---|
40 | 40 | | 11without compensation but may receive such funding from the department of veterans' services to |
---|
41 | 41 | | 12fulfill their study and review of establishing a veteran's hall of fame. 2 of 2 |

42 | 42 | | 13 SECTION 2 The commission shall review and analyze the feasibility of, and costs |
---|
43 | 43 | | 14associated with, the establishment of a veterans' hall of fame in the commonwealth and shall |
---|
44 | 44 | | 15study reasonable methods and criteria that may be utilized for nominating and inducting veterans |
---|
45 | 45 | | 16who are residents of the commonwealth into said hall of fame. |
---|
46 | 46 | | 17 SECTION 3 The commission shall submit its findings and recommendations with the |
---|
47 | 47 | | 18clerks of the house of representatives and senate.by December 31, 2026. |
