2626 An Act relative to the organization of EOHHS.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 SECTION 1. (a) There shall be a special commission to study the effectiveness of the
3030 2executive office of health and human services. The commission shall evaluate the current
3131 3number of employees in the executive office, the administrative structure of the executive office
3232 4and the executive office’s effectiveness in fulfilling its legislative mandate. The commission
3333 5shall consider the feasibility and potential effectiveness of alternative organizational
3434 6configurations for the executive office, including the possibility of dividing the executive office
3535 7into smaller subagencies.
3636 8 (b) The commission shall consist of 11 members: the secretary of health and human
3737 9services, 1 member to be appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives; 1 member to
3838 10be appointed by the senate president; and 8 to be appointed by the governor, 3 of whom shall
3939 11have experience with public health administration, 3 of whom shall have experience in private 2 of 2
4040 12healthcare administration and 2 of whom shall have work experience with the administration of
4141 13social services.
4242 14 SECTION 2. Not later than October 1, 2026, the commission shall file a report of its
4343 15findings, including any legislative or regulatory recommendations, with the clerks of the house
4444 16of representatives and the senate, the joint committee on health care financing and the joint
4545 17committee on public health.
