2727 An Act relative to consumer protection and civil rights.
2828 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2929 of the same, as follows:
3030 1 Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary:
3131 2 The attorney general shall have the jurisdiction to pursue civil action against a company
3232 3or individual who violates the civil rights of Massachusetts citizen whose rights were violated in
3333 4another state if the consumer activity involved the use of Massachusetts wages or banks or if a
3434 5consumer agreement was breached causing the Massachusetts resident to suffer damages.
3535 6 The statute of limitations for said consumer or civil rights violation shall be tolled while
3636 7the plaintiff or defendant is outside the state where the violation took place.
