The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Fourth General Court (2025-2026) _______________ An Act relative to consumer protection and civil rights. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary: 2 The attorney general shall have the jurisdiction to pursue civil action against a company 3or individual who violates the civil rights of Massachusetts citizen whose rights were violated in 4another state if the consumer activity involved the use of Massachusetts wages or banks or if a 5consumer agreement was breached causing the Massachusetts resident to suffer damages. 6 The statute of limitations for said consumer or civil rights violation shall be tolled while 7the plaintiff or defendant is outside the state where the violation took place.
