O'Connor for legislation to require AEDs in clubs and fraternal organizations and that mandatory training be provided to all staff and members. Public Health. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Fourth General Court (2025-2026) _______________ An Act requiring AEDs in clubs and fraternal organizations. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1. (a) Any group organized under Chapter 180 of the General Laws shall 2provide and maintain at least 1 fully functional automated external defibrillator, also known as 3AED, for emergency use. 4 (b) Any group or organization that is required to provide and maintain an AED pursuant 5to subsection (a) shall provide mandatory training in accordance with the standards established 6by the American Heart Association or the American National Red Cross on cardiopulmonary 7resuscitation and the use of AEDs to: all organizational staff; all members of the organization; 8any other individuals as determined by the leadership of the organization. 9 SECTION 2. There shall be a fund, subject to appropriation, established to assist any 10group required by subsection (a) to provide an AED with procurement, maintenance, and 11training necessary under Section 1.
