[SIMILAR MATTER FILED IN PREVIOUS SESSION SEE SENATE, NO. 1530 OF 2023-2024.] The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Fourth General Court (2025-2026) _______________ An Act to mandate flotation devices in police vehicles. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 Chapter 147 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting the following sections: 2 Section XX. Local and state police officers shall be equipped with a flotation device in 3their on duty vehicles. Said flotation device shall be large enough and suitable for use in a water 4rescue. These officials shall further receive water rescue training, including, but not limited to, 5instruction on how to safely and properly use flotation devices in the event of a rescue. 6 Section XX. The municipal police training committee may promulgate regulations for 7purposes of implementing this Act.
