Finegold for legislation to clarify Group 4 retirement classification eligibility for utility maintenance workers. Public Service. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Fourth General Court (2025-2026) _______________ An Act clarifying Group 4 retirement classification eligibility for utility maintenance workers. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Subsection (2) of section 3 of chapter 32, as appearing in the 2022 Official 2Edition, is hereby amended in the definition of Group 4 in paragraph (g) by striking out the 3words “employees of a municipal gas or electric generating or distribution plant who are 4employed as linemen, electric switchboard operators, electric maintenance men, steam engineers, 5boiler operators, firemen, oilers, mechanical maintenance men, and supervisors of said 6employees who shall include managers and assistant managers” and inserting in place thereof the 7following words:- 8 employees of a municipal gas or electric generating or distribution plant who are 9employed as linemen or line workers, electric switchboard operators, electric maintenance 10workers, substation technicians, meter installers, steam engineers, boiler operators, firemen or 11firefighters, oilers, mechanical maintenance workers and supervisors of said employees who 12shall include managers and assistant managers. 2 of 2 13 SECTION 2. Section 1 shall take effect upon enactment.
