Rush for legislation to create no cost parking at MBTA commuter rail stations. Transportation. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Fourth General Court (2025-2026) _______________ An Act to create no cost parking at MBTA commuter rail stations. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Section 46 of Chapter 161A of the General Laws is hereby amended by 2inserting at the beginning the following:- “ (a)” 3 SECTION 2. Section 46 of Chapter 161A of the General Laws is hereby amended by 4inserting the following:- 5 “(b) All parking lots or garages located at Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority 6commuter rail stations shall be free of charge to commuters for a period of no longer than 24 7hours. Any vehicle occupying a parking space for a duration longer than 24 hours shall be 8subject to charges of twenty dollars per day. Any commuter rail station also providing rapid 9transit service shall be exempt from this section”.
