| 28 | 28 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |

| 29 | 29 | | of the same, as follows: |

| 30 | 30 | | 1 SECTION 1. Section 5 of chapter 32A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 |

| 31 | 31 | | 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following paragraph:- |

| 32 | 32 | | 3 Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the group insurance |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 4commission shall allow for a state employer to offer to a new state employee who is eligible for |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 5health insurance benefits and opts to receive health insurance benefits provided by the group |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 6insurance commission health insurance coverage effective as of their employment start date. The |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 7group insurance commission, in consultation with the comptroller and the executive office for |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 8administration and finance, shall promulgate regulations to enforce this section. |
