[SIMILAR MATTER FILED IN PREVIOUS SESSION SEE SENATE, NO. 707 OF 2023-2024.] The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Fourth General Court (2025-2026) _______________ An Act expanding health insurance access for state employees. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Section 5 of chapter 32A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following paragraph:- 3 Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the group insurance 4commission shall allow for a state employer to offer to a new state employee who is eligible for 5health insurance benefits and opts to receive health insurance benefits provided by the group 6insurance commission health insurance coverage effective as of their employment start date. The 7group insurance commission, in consultation with the comptroller and the executive office for 8administration and finance, shall promulgate regulations to enforce this section.
