AN ACT concerning 1 
 
Higher Education – St. Mary’s College of Maryland – Cost–of–Living Adjustment 2 
 
FOR the purpose of altering the percentage of the cost–of–living adjustment provided to 3 
State–supported employees of St. Mary’s College of Maryland under certain 4 
circumstances; and generally relating to St. Mary’s College of Maryland and the 5 
cost–of–living adjustment for employees. 6 
 
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, 7 
 Article – Education 8 
Section 14–405(b)(3) 9

 SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 12 
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 13 
 
Article – Education 14 
 
14–405. 15 
 
 (b) (3) (i) Beginning in fiscal year 2019, in addition to the grant provided 16 
under paragraph (2) of this subsection, the College shall receive the amounts specified 17 
under this paragraph. 18 
 
 (ii) For each fiscal year, the State shall provide to the College funds 19 
to pay for the increase in State–supported health insurance costs of the College. 20 
 
 (iii) For each fiscal year in which the State provides a cost–of–living 21 
adjustment for State employees, the State shall provide to the College [50%] 100% of the 22  2 	HOUSE BILL 54  
 
 
cost–of–living adjustment wage increase for State–supported employees of the College. 1 
 
 (iv) For each fiscal year in which the State provides funds to other 2 
public senior higher education institutions to moderate undergraduate resident tuition 3 
increases, it is the intent of the General Assembly that the State shall provide to the College 4 
funds for the same purpose. 5 
 
 SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect July 6 
1, 2022. 7
