| 29 | 29 | | (a) The Department of Planning, in consultation with the Maryland Energy 10 |

| 30 | 30 | | Administration, shall conduct a study to identify and evaluate land owned by the 11 |

| 31 | 31 | | Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services for the siting of new solar energy 12 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | projects. 13 |

| 34 | 34 | | (b) The study shall include: 14 |

| 36 | 36 | | (1) development of criteria to be used to assess and compare the suitability 15 |

| 37 | 37 | | of sites for new solar projects; and 16 |

|---|
| 39 | 39 | | (2) an assessment of the feasibility of using lease agreements for solar 17 |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | energy projects on land owned by the Department of Public Safety and Correctional 18 |
|---|

| 43 | 43 | | (c) On or before October 1, 2027, the Department of Planning shall report its 20 |

| 44 | 44 | | findings and recommendations to the Governor and, in accordance with § 2–1257 of the 21 |
