11 HOUSE BILL NO. 5153 A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled "The Michigan penal code," (MCL 750.1 to 750.568) by adding section 224g. the people of the state of michigan enact: Sec. 224g. (1) A person shall not possess, use, transport, purchase, carry, ship, receive, or distribute a firearm or ammunition in this state if that person is prohibited under 18 USC 922(g)(9) from shipping or transporting in interstate or foreign commerce, or possessing in or affecting commerce, any firearm or ammunition, or receiving any firearm or ammunition which has been shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce. (2) A person who possesses, uses, transports, purchases, carries, ships, receives, or distributes a firearm or ammunition in this state in violation of this section is guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 5 years or a fine of not more than $5,000.00, or both. (3) Any single criminal transaction where a person possesses, uses, transports, sells, carries, ships, or distributes ammunition in violation of this section, regardless of the amount of ammunition involved, constitutes 1 offense. (4) As used in this section, "ammunition" means any projectile that, in its current state, may be expelled from a firearm by an explosive.
