1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to education finance; appropriating money for a grant to the Kids In Need 1.3 Foundation. 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS. 1.6 Subdivision 1.Department of Education.The sum indicated in this section is 1.7appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education for the fiscal year 1.8designated. 1.9 Subd. 2.Kids In Need Foundation.(a) For a grant to the Kids In Need Foundation for 1.10programs and activities that decrease absenteeism, encourage school engagement and interest 1.11in learning, improve student grades, and improve student graduation rates: 2026.....3,000,0001.12 $ 1.13 (b) The grant must be used to support Minnesota schools in which at least half of enrolled 1.14students qualify for free or reduced-price meals, with a focus on low-income students and 1.15students of color. Eligible uses of the grant include: 1.16 (1) providing educational supplies to support the Kids In Need Foundation Rural and 1.17Indigenous School Equity program; 1.18 (2) increasing access to the Kids In Need Foundation Teacher Resource Center and 1.19training facility; 1.20 (3) enhancing volunteer space; and 1.21 (4) supporting additional supply distributions to teachers and students. 1Section 1.
