1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to mental health; allowing persons on probation or parole access to certain 1.3 mental health services; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 245.50, 1.4 subdivision 3, by adding a subdivision. 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 245.50, subdivision 3, is amended to read: 1.7 Subd. 3.Exceptions.A contract may not be entered into under this section for services 1.8to persons who: 1.9 (1) are serving a sentence after conviction of a criminal offense; 1.10 (2) are on probation or parole; 1.11 (3) are the subject of a presentence investigation; or 1.12 (4) (3) have been committed involuntarily in Minnesota under chapter 253B for treatment 1.13of mental illness or chemical dependency, except as provided under subdivision 5. 1.14 Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 245.50, is amended by adding a subdivision to 1.15read: 1.16 Subd. 6.Contract notice.A Minnesota mental health, chemical health, or detoxification 1.17agency or facility entering into a contract with a bordering state under this section must, 1.18within 30 days of the contract's effective date, provide the commissioner of human services 1.19with a copy of the contract. If the contract is amended, the agency or facility must provide 1.20the commissioner with a copy of each amendment within 30 days of the amendment's 1.21effective date. 1Sec. 2.
