55 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
66 1.6 Section 1. [142D.085] PARENT NOTIFICATION; TYPE 1 DIABETES​
77 1.7INFORMATION.​
88 1.8 (a) The commissioner, in consultation with the commissioners of health and education,​
99 1.9must develop informational materials on type 1 diabetes for parents of children in preschool​
1010 1.10programs. By October 1, 2025, the materials must be posted on the department's website.​
1111 1.11 (b) Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, school districts and charter schools that​
1212 1.12offer preschool programs must provide the materials developed under this section to parents​
1313 1.13with children in any preschool program. School districts and charter schools must disseminate​
1414 1.14the materials at least once each school year.​
1515 1.15 (c) The informational materials developed under this section must include, but are not​
1616 1.16limited to:​
1717 1.17 (1) a description of type 1 diabetes;​
1818 1.18 (2) a description of the risk factors and warning signs associated with type 1 diabetes;​
1919 1.19 (3) a recommendation for parents of children displaying warning signs associated with​
2020 1.20type 1 diabetes to consult with the child's primary care provider to determine if immediate​
2121 1.21screening for type 1 diabetes is appropriate;​
