55 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
66 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 3.732, subdivision 2, is amended to read:​
77 1.7 Subd. 2.Claims of $7,000 or less.The head of each department or agency of the state,​
88 1.8or a designee, acting on behalf of the state, shall must attempt to determine, adjust and settle,​
99 1.9at any time, any claim for money damages of $7,000 or less against the state for injury to​
1010 1.10or loss of property or personal injury or death caused by an act or omission of any employee​
1111 1.11of the state while acting within the scope of office or employment, under circumstances​
1212 1.12where the state, if a private person, would be liable to the claimant. The settlement is final​
1313 1.13and conclusive on all officers of the state, unless procured by fraud. The acceptance by the​
1414 1.14claimant of a settlement is final and conclusive on the claimant and constitutes a complete​
1515 1.15release of any claim against the state and the employee of the state whose act or omission​
1616 1.16gave rise to the claim, by reason of the same subject matter.​
