1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to workforce development; appropriating money for building a regional
1.3 career technical education center in Northeastern Minnesota.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION.
1.6 $5,500,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the workforce development fund to
1.7the commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant to Independent
1.8School District No. 704, Proctor, for building a regional center of excellence for career
1.9technical education in Northeastern Minnesota. The center must be overseen by a partnership
1.10between the Proctor, Hermantown, and Esko school districts and must facilitate cost-effective
1.11workforce training to meet regional industry needs. Grant money may be used for purchasing
1.12real property, building and remodeling costs, and equipment needed for career and technical
1.13education. This appropriation is available until the project is completed or abandoned,
1.14subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642.
