1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to taxation; local sales and use; extending the duration of the Hermantown
1.3 local sales and use tax; amending Laws 1996, chapter 471, article 2, section 29,
1.4 subdivision 4, as amended.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. Laws 1996, chapter 471, article 2, section 29, subdivision 4, as amended by
1.7Laws 2006, chapter 259, article 3, section 4, and Laws 2017, First Special Session chapter
1.81, article 5, section 7, is amended to read:
1.9 Subd. 4.Termination.The tax authorized under this section terminates at the earlier of
1.10(1) December 31, 2036 2046, or (2) when the Hermantown City Council first determines
1.11that sufficient funds have been received from the tax to fund the costs, including bonds and
1.12associated bond costs for the uses specified in subdivision 1. Any funds remaining after
1.13completion of the improvements and retirement or redemption of the bonds may be placed
1.14in the general fund of the city.
1.15 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment without
1.16local approval pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, section 645.023, subdivision 1.
