7-1.7BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
8-1.8 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 171.174, is amended to read:​
9-1.9 171.174 REVOCATION; FLEEING PEACE OFFICER OFFENSE.​
10-1.10 The commissioner of public safety shall revoke the license of a person upon receipt of​
11-1.11a certificate of conviction showing that the person has in a motor vehicle violated section​
12-1.12609.487, subdivision 3, 3a, 3b, or 4, or an ordinance in conformity with those subdivisions.​
13-1.13The commissioner shall revoke the license as follows:​
14-1.14 (1) for the first offense under section 609.487, subdivision 3, for not less than one year;​
15-1.15 (2) for the second offense or subsequent offenses under section 609.487, subdivision 3,​
16-1.16for not less than three years;​
17-1.17 (3) for an offense under section 609.487, subdivision 3a or 3b, for not less than four​
18-1.18years;​
19-1.19 (4) for an offense under section 609.487, subdivision 4, clause (a), for not less than ten​
20-1.20years;​
21-1.21 (4) (5) for an offense under section 609.487, subdivision 4, clause (b), for not less than​
22-1.22seven years; and​
4+1.4 crime of fleeing in motor vehicle and failing to obey certain traffic laws; authorizing​
5+1.5 expanded use of tracking devices for fleeing motor vehicles; amending Minnesota​

8+1.8BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
9+1.9 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 171.174, is amended to read:​
10+1.10 171.174 REVOCATION; FLEEING PEACE OFFICER OFFENSE.​
11+1.11 The commissioner of public safety shall revoke the license of a person upon receipt of​

4242 2.10 Subd. 3a.Fleeing an officer; motor vehicle; culpable negligence.Whoever, by means​
4343 2.11of a motor vehicle, flees or attempts to flee a peace officer who is acting in the lawful​
4444 2.12discharge of an official duty, and the perpetrator knows or should reasonably know the same​
4545 2.13to be a peace officer, and who in the course of fleeing operates the vehicle in a culpably​
4646 2.14negligent manner whereby the perpetrator creates an unreasonable risk and consciously​
4747 2.15takes chances of causing death or great bodily harm to another, is guilty of a felony and​
48-2.16may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than five years or to payment of a fine of​
49-2.17not more than $10,000, or both.​

5555 2.23means of a motor vehicle a peace officer who is acting in the lawful discharge of an official​
5656 2.24duty, and the perpetrator knows or should reasonably know the same to be a peace officer,​
5757 2.25and who in the course of fleeing in a motor vehicle does any of the following is guilty of a​
58-2.26felony and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than four years or to payment​
59-2.27of a fine of not more than $8,000 or both:​
