44 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
55 1.5 Section 1. [135A.063] ADMISSIONS APPLICATIONS; LEGACY ADMISSIONS​
66 1.6AND ADMISSIONS BASED ON DONOR STATUS PROHIBITED.​
77 1.7 (a) For the purpose of this section, "legacy status" means the familial relationship of an​
88 1.8individual applying for admission to an institution of higher education to an alumnus of the​
99 1.9institution.​
1010 1.10 (b) No public or private institution of higher education shall provide any manner of​
1111 1.11preferential treatment in the admissions decision to any student applicant on the basis of a​
1212 1.12student's legacy status or a student's familial relationship to any donor to such institution.​
1313 1.13The Board of Regents of the University of Minnesota is requested to comply with this​
1414 1.14section.​
