1.2 relating to capital investment; appropriating money for a community engagement
1.3 center in the city of Duluth.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; UNION GOSPEL MISSION COMMUNITY
1.6ENGAGEMENT CENTER.
1.7 $8,856,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
1.8of employment and economic development for a grant to Union Gospel Mission, Inc., a
1.9501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to predesign, design, construct, furnish, and equip a
1.10community engagement center in the city of Duluth to serve people experiencing
1.11homelessness. This appropriation includes money for a commercial kitchen, warming center
1.12space, indoor and outdoor space for guests, health service facilities, classrooms and offices,
1.13and laundry and hygiene facilities. This appropriation is onetime and is available until the
1.14project is completed or abandoned subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642.
1.15 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
