1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to transportation; prohibiting the commissioner of public safety from 1.3 determining insurance requirements for towing vehicles; proposing coding for 1.4 new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 168B. 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. [168B.041] INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR TOWING VEHICLES. 1.7 (a) For purposes of this section, "on-hook towing insurance" means liability insurance 1.8for a vehicle or other conveyance while attached or connected to a tow truck. 1.9 (b) The commissioner of public safety or the Minnesota State Patrol must not adopt any 1.10rule, regulation, order, or procedure that requires a towing service to carry a set amount of 1.11on-hook towing insurance for towed vehicles valued at less than $400,000. 1.12 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective retroactively from August 1, 2023, and 1.13applies to orders issued on or after that date. 1Section 1.
