11 | 11 | | 1.11 WHEREAS, the state of Minnesota appreciates the opportunity provided by that act; and |

14 | 14 | | 1.14 WHEREAS, the act of Congress creating Statuary Hall in the United States Capitol was |

15 | 15 | | 1.15amended in 2000 by Section 311 of H.R. 5657, established as law by Public Law 106-554, and |

16 | 16 | | 1.16provides that "Any State may request the Joint Committee on the Library of Congress to approve |

17 | 17 | | 1.17the replacement of a statue the State has provided for display"; and |

18 | 18 | | 1.18 WHEREAS, the statue of Henry Mower Rice, having been first placed on display in 1916, |

19 | 19 | | 1.19has met the minimum requirement of that act for display for at least ten years; and |

20 | 20 | | 1.20 WHEREAS, by this resolution, the state has selected the Honorable Hubert H. Humphrey, |
