                            1.1	A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to state government; allowing ranking minority members of standing​
1.3 legislative committees to request fiscal notes; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024,​
1.4 section 3.98, subdivisions 1, 3.​
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 3.98, subdivision 1, is amended to read:​
1.7 Subdivision 1.Preparation; duties.(a) The head or chief administrative officer of each​
1.8department or agency of the state government, including the supreme court, shall prepare​
1.9a fiscal note consistent with the standards and procedures adopted under section 3.8853, at​
1.10the request of the chair or ranking minority member of the standing committee to which a​
1.11bill has been referred, or the chair or ranking minority member of the house of representatives​
1.12Ways and Means Committee, or the chair or ranking minority member of the senate​
1.13Committee on Finance.​
1.14 (b) For purposes of this subdivision, "supreme court" includes all agencies, committees,​
1.15and commissions supervised or appointed by the state supreme court or the state court​
1.16administrator.​
1.17 Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 3.98, subdivision 3, is amended to read:​
1.18 Subd. 3.Distribution.A copy of the fiscal note shall be delivered to the chair or ranking​
1.19minority member of the Ways and Means Committee of the house of representatives, the​
1.20chair or ranking minority member of the Finance Committee of the senate, the chair and​
1.21ranking minority member of the standing committee to which the bill has been referred, to​
1.22the chief author of the bill, and to the commissioner of management and budget.​
