1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to human services; expanding medical assistance hospice service coverage 1.3 to include room and board; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 256B.0625, 1.4 subdivision 22. 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 256B.0625, subdivision 22, is amended to 1.7read: 1.8 Subd. 22.Hospice care.(a) Medical assistance covers hospice care services under Public 1.9Law 99-272, section 9505, to the extent authorized by rule, except that: 1.10 (1) a recipient age 21 or under who elects to receive hospice services does not waive 1.11coverage for services that are related to the treatment of the condition for which a diagnosis 1.12of terminal illness has been made.; and 1.13 (2) room and board expenses are covered for persons receiving hospice services in a 1.14community-based setting, to the extent room and board expenses are not otherwise covered 1.15under this chapter or chapter 256I. 1.16 (b) Hospice respite and end-of-life care under subdivision 22a are not hospice care 1.17services under this subdivision. 1Section 1.
