55 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
66 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 3.971, is amended by adding a subdivision​

88 1.8 Subd. 10.Civil or criminal complaint.For occurrences of fraud or maladministration​
99 1.9of taxpayer-funded programs, the legislative auditor is authorized to bring a civil action or​
1010 1.10criminal complaint under Minnesota law in the office's name as the legislative auditor. The​
1111 1.11standing of any state department to sue or be sued under applicable law must not be affected​
1212 1.12by any civil action or criminal complaint under this subdivision.​
1313 1.13 Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 3.971, is amended by adding a subdivision to​
1414 1.14read:​
1515 1.15 Subd. 11.County attorneys may pursue fraud allegations.County attorneys may​
1616 1.16prosecute claims of fraud or maladministration in taxpayer-funded programs under Minnesota​
1717 1.17law.​
