1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to education finance; appropriating money for grants to intermediate school 1.3 districts for registered special education apprenticeship programs. 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS. 1.6 Subdivision 1.Department of Education.The sums indicated in this section are 1.7appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education for the fiscal years 1.8designated. 1.9 Subd. 2.Special education apprenticeship programs.(a) For grants to intermediate 1.10school districts for registered special education apprenticeship programs: 2026.....3,000,0001.11 $ 2027.....3,000,0001.12 $ 1.13 (b) In each year, the department must award grants of $740,000 each to Intermediate 1.14School Districts Nos. 287, 288, 916, and 917. Grant recipients must use grant money for 1.15registered special education apprenticeship programs. Grant money may be used for: 1.16 (1) program oversight and administrative costs incurred by an intermediate school district 1.17and its partner higher education institution; 1.18 (2) stipends and tuition, fees, and other direct program costs incurred by apprentices; 1.19 (3) stipends for teachers serving as mentors; and 1.20 (4) the cost of substitute teachers. 1Section 1.
