| 4 | 4 | | 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: |

| 5 | 5 | | 1.5 Section 1. [168.1289] "SHARE THE ROAD" SPECIAL PLATES. |

| 6 | 6 | | 1.6 Subdivision 1.Issuance of plates.The commissioner must issue "Share the Road" |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 1.7special plates or a single motorcycle plate to an applicant who: |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 1.8 (1) is a registered owner of a passenger automobile, noncommercial one-ton pickup |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 1.9truck, motorcycle, or recreational motor vehicle; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 1.10 (2) pays a fee in the amount specified for special plates under section 168.12, subdivision |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 1.115, for each set of plates, along with any other fees required by this chapter; |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 1.12 (3) pays the registration tax required under section 168.013; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 1.13 (4) contributes a minimum of $40 annually to the active transportation account under |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 1.14section 174.38; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 1.15 (5) complies with this chapter and rules governing registration of motor vehicles and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 1.16licensing of drivers. |

| 17 | 17 | | 1.17 Subd. 2.Design.The representatives of the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota must design |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 1.18the special plate in consultation with the commissioner. The special plate must contain the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 1.19inscription "Share the Road" between the bolt holes on the bottom of the plate with a design |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 1.20area on the left side of the plate, subject to the approval of the commissioner. |
