55 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
66 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 121A.23, subdivision 1, is amended to read:​
77 1.7 Subdivision 1.Sexually transmitted infections and diseases program.The​
88 1.8commissioner of education, in consultation with the commissioner of health, shall assist​
99 1.9districts in developing and implementing a program to prevent and reduce the risk of sexually​
1010 1.10transmitted infections and diseases, including but not exclusive to human immune deficiency​
1111 1.11virus and human papilloma virus. Each district must have a program that includes at least:​
1212 1.12 (1) planning materials, guidelines, and other technically medically accurate and updated​
1313 1.13information;​
1414 1.14 (2) a comprehensive, technically medically accurate, and updated curriculum that includes​
1515 1.15helping students to abstain from sexual activity until marriage and gain knowledge of other​
1616 1.16methods of preventing sexually transmitted infections, and is inclusive of all students​
1717 1.17regardless of their protected class status;​
1818 1.18 (3) cooperation and coordination among districts and SCs;​
1919 1.19 (4) a targeting of adolescents, especially those who may be at high risk of contracting​
2020 1.20sexually transmitted infections and diseases, for prevention efforts;​
2121 1.21 (5) involvement of parents and other community members;​
2222 1.22 (6) in-service training for appropriate district staff and school board members;​
