1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to state government; establishing term limits for the office of governor; 1.3 proposing an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, article V, section 2. 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.5 Section 1. CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT PROPOSED. 1.6 An amendment to the Minnesota Constitution is proposed to the people. If the amendment 1.7is adopted, article V, section 2, will read: 1.8 Sec. 2. The term of office for the governor and lieutenant governor is four years and 1.9until a successor is chosen and qualified. Each shall have attained the age of 25 years and, 1.10shall have been a bona fide resident of the state for one year next preceding his election, 1.11and shall be a citizen of the United States. A person elected twice to the office of governor 1.12is no longer an eligible candidate for the office. 1.13 Sec. 2. SUBMISSION TO VOTERS. 1.14 (a) The proposed amendment must be submitted to the people at the 2026 general election. 1.15The question submitted must be: 1.16 "Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to limit a governor to two terms? 1.17 Yes ...................
