1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to water; temporarily prohibiting modifications to the public water
1.3 inventory; requiring a report.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. PUBLIC WATERS INVENTORY MODIFICATIONS MORATORIUM;
1.6REPORT.
1.7 (a) The commissioner of natural resources may not modify the public waters inventory
1.8under Minnesota Statutes, section 103G.201, until July 1, 2027.
1.9 (b) By January 15, 2027, the commissioner of natural resources, in consultation with
1.10counties, cities, townships, watershed districts, soil and water conservation districts, and
1.11other interested parties, must submit a report to the legislature on the public waters inventory
1.12modification process, including any necessary legislative changes, to ensure all modifications
1.13to the public waters inventory provide an opportunity for local government involvement
1.14and public comment.
1.15 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
